Leadership

The elders and deacons of Harambee provide leadership for a church where the members and regular participants do the work of the Gospel -- the high call of the Church. Often, people elevate church leadership in a way that is hollow and counterfeit -- imagining a perfect people with few flaws and a ‘happy’ life -- the sure result of which is a spiritual class system that pre-empts the work of the Body.

It is our view that everyone is a leader in the things that God puts in front of them: Family, work, school, community, the Gospel, etc. Leadership within Harambee is merely another expression of the specific callings that God places upon each of his image bearers. Our elders and deacons are people who have been called to put their hand to the plow (in specific ways) as we plant Harambee.

Elders

el•der (el'der) n. 1. Elected or appointed governing officer within a church. [See 1 Timothy 3: 1-7, Titus 1: 6-9]

The elders of Harambee are appointed by God to shepherd and lead the Harambee flock. It is our desire to lead this church through this culture in a way pleasing to the Lord. Leading is not always easy nor pleasurable but as God continues to work through us by washing His church with His word the Lord is presenting himself a radiant church. Read More

Deacons

dea•con (de'ken) n. 1. Attendant or assistant to church leaders. [See 1 Timothy 3: 8] Historically, deacons have served as both care providers and overseerers of the church body. Read More

Interns

in•tern (in'turn) n. 1. slaves (of the gospel) for a season.
