Children
When we look back on our lives we remember people. When we look back searching for who has helped shape us, many faces come to mind. Many hands go into the making of a human life.As Christians, we can look back into our lives and catch glimpses of the hands God has used to shape our relationship with Him. There are many parents, siblings, family, friends, pastors and the Sunday school teachers, but there is so much more. There are the sounds of a family gathering, a church congregation in song. There is also community, and the every day individuals, school teachers, neighbors, and sports friends. There is the quiet peace of a Christian who you know is in mourning and the accepting love of a person who has no real reason to love you except that Christ loves them.
Above all, there is the relentless hope in a relationship with Jesus against the veiled despair of the world. And through it all we are His people. Children are a part of the church today and those who will lead tomorrow. When we think about how we are raising our own children we should ask the question, “What will they remember?”
At Harambee Church we do not believe that a Sunday school curriculum will save our kids. Only God can do that. Your relationship with Jesus and your witness to your children about your relationship with Him is the most important gift you can give them. When they come to their crossroads later in their lives they will be standing upon the foundation your witness has built for them, part of which will be built through the people and experiences you have allowed to participate in the shaping of their lives.
It has been said that Christianity is concerned about the person at the crossroads; which way will he or she go? We are endeavoring to build the Harambee Children’s Ministry with this in mind. Harambee Children’s Ministry is committed to not only walk alongside, but to encourage and strengthen you, as you are building the spiritual foundation your children will build their entire lives and eternity on. We will maintain the core values and philosophy of Harambee and will be co-partners with the singles and parents called to serve and committed to this ministry at Harambee Church. We are committed to the little ones you entrust in our care.
Nursery (0-18 months): The nursery is available with toys, books, a napping area, and plenty of loving arms to soothe a crying baby. As well as those who understand and are committed to loving and nurturing your precious child. We will speak God’s word and promises over them as they are entrusted to our care.
Toddlers (19 months - 3 years): Our Toddlers will learn basic Bible lessons consisting of discussion and a coloring time related to the material of the day. Along with learning to build and enjoy new friendships with others their age and committed teachers and helpers.
Preschool (3-5 years): Preschoolers will learn basic principles of Christian Faith. They will gather to discuss and do creative arts and crafts expressing significant points of their lesson. Enjoying this experience with friends and loving committed teachers and helpers.
Primary (K-5th grade): The purpose of primary education at Harambee church is to teach, and experience biblical truths in bite size pieces, through the study of Jesus Christ and his life and resurrection. In a caring environment your children will learn through music, art, drama, and crafts, about the teaching and truth of Jesus Christ. Children are provided the opportunity to ask their own questions and discuss in an open manner how the stories and teachings of Jesus Christ affect their own daily lives. We desire for them to know, love and live for Jesus Christ. This will provide them the background needed for future questioning of Christianity as they get older and the self realization of why they follow Jesus Christ. This is a very healthy way of growing and maturing in the Christian life.
Middle School Class: This class meets each Sunday during the 10:00am service before the sermon. The focus of this class is to move them into thinking about the Christian faith in ways usually reserved for older kids and adults. Preparing these students for the questions and challenges the lay ahead of them as they grow into mature young adults and make continuing life choices for eternity.
