Service is Worship Events
What Is It?Once a month, we join together to sacrificially serve our community as part of our worship together on Sundays.
The Bible shows us that worship is more than just singing or raising our hands. Worship is how Paul describes the whole life of the believer. All of our thoughts, our emotions, and our actions – in short, our bodies themselves, are to be given joyfully as a sacrifice to God in thanks for what He has done for us (Rom 12:1-2).
God defines for us what a life of worship looks like in the Bible. An essential part of that life of worship is serving others ().
As such, once a month, we respond corporately to the message of Gospel in worship by serving our community. These Service Is Worship Events take place after the preaching of the word as part of our regular worship service.
Childcare
Children are a big part of our worshipping community! We encourage children pre-school age and up to participate at their parent's discretion. We'd like to pair our kids up with adults that aren't their parents if possible, so that they can make new friends, and so that Mom can have a break. :) For pre-school age and below, childcare will also be provided. We will also have a Service Is Worship team member with each service group, so that parents can be called if necessary. Contact a siw-kids@harambeechurch.com if you have any questions about the Children’s events.
Lunch
We encourage anyone who can to bring their own lunch, but we also be provide a low-cost, low-frills lunch for those who can't bring their own. We'll have a quick 15-minute break in between the sermon and the service event for you to gobble down your lunch before we get to work. If you have children, they will be fed by our volunteers.
Length
We begin the events around 20 minutes after the sermon. They will usually last 2-3 hours, so mark your calendars and come ready to serve!
